Stand Firm in Faith

2 Chronicles 20:1-30

Last week, I looked at how we can stand firm in our belief that God loves us.  There are so many scripture references about God's faithful love and I would like to look up Psalm 136.  God is faithful and His faithful love endures forever!  God loves you and His love for you will never fail.  When we believe this truth we are able to stand firm.  No matter what our circumstances look like, we can know we already have victory because God's faithful love endures forever.  Our greatest enemy is death, and Jesus conquered death when He died on the cross and rose again.  His love wasn't just displayed for the people in the Bible, He loves each and every one of us right now and forever.  Please turn to 2 Chronicles 20:1-30.

Judah was in a terrible position because they were being attacked by several countries and the situation looked impossible.  In fact, by all human standards, it was impossible - there was no way they were going to win this battle without divine intervention.  King Jehoshaphat knew this and immediately gathered everyone (including the children) and fasted and prayed before God knowing that God could give them the victory.  God spoke to them and told them that the battle was no longer theirs to fight and that He would have the victory.  I love what Jehoshaphat said to the army of Judah as they assembled to the battlefield; please read it in verse 20.  "Believe in the Lord your God and you will be able to stand firm."  They were then reminded of God's faithfulness by the singers.

As we read about the Armor of God in Ephesians 6:10-18, we are told about the importance of standing firm.  We will be able to face our enemy when we are standing firm.  When we believe in God and His promises, we are able to stand firm.  When we believe that we already have victory over death, we can stand firm.  We are able to stand firm when we have faith and trust God.  His love endures forever!

Believe God and you will be standing firm!
