Help In All Troubles

Isaiah 43:10-12

When we are dealing with tangible difficulties, it is easy to rely on a tangible way to get out of that difficulty.  I look back so many times when my husband and I were dealing with difficult situations and we responded out of our human nature rather than remembering that we have a God who cares.  We would pray, but the reality was that we didn't wait to see what God would do and "fix" the problem ourselves.  Those fixes didn't always work the best way because it would either put us in to more debt or put us in another difficult situation.  Unfortunately, this is even after we have also witnessed powerful and amazing ways that God has provided for us and helped us with other difficulties.  Please read what God says in Isaiah 43:10-12.

The first thing that God says is that the nation of Israel are His witnesses.  This was a nation that had a history passed down from generation to generation of God's mighty hand at work.  These are not small stories; theses are stories such as God delivering them from Egypt, God parting the Red Sea, God providing manna in the desert, God drying up a path in the Jordan River (at flood stage), God using the least of the least in Gideon and saving the nation, and so many more stories!  This was a nation that had received many prophecies of what was to come and saw them fulfilled.  This is a nation that a reason to be a witness of who God is!

God reminds them that they are chosen by Him and that He loves them.  He reminds them that there was never a god before Him and there will never be another - He is the One and Only God.  He then reminds them that He is the only one who saves them; there is no one else not even a foreign god that can do this.  Only God can save!

You may feel that this is in Isaiah and God was saying this only to the nation of Israel about their captivity; however, I want to remind you that we can also trust God in this way.  The Bible tells us that when we believe who Jesus is and follow Him, we become a part of the family of God - we are His children.  Please look up John 1:11-13 to see this promise given to all who believe.  God looks at us as His people - His special possession; please look up 1 Peter 2:9-10.  He loves us as His children, His nation, His holy people.  We are now the people of God and we can believe that He is our Savior.

Do you believe that you are God's child, His special possession once you believe who Jesus is?  Do you believe that means that God cares enough to help you with your troubles?

  1. Sharon, trusting God was a part of my bible study this morning too. It's amazing, how when trials come, or we don't see things working on our time table, we want to help Him. How silly of us. Many great points. Blessings, Nona
