Tomorrow is Valentine's Day, which has a lot of couples scrambling to buy flowers, jewelry, and get dinner reservations. One thing I really appreciate about my husband is that he is often doing things to show me how much he loves me, so the need to do something on Valentine's Day isn't as important to me. It has me thinking today about God's faithful love - He loves us each and every minute of the day. There is no special day set aside where we experience His love once a year, He loves us all the time. The greatest expression of His love for us happened on one day; however, its effect is eternal. When Jesus died on the cross, He did it for all people throughout all of time. Isn't that amazing? We are told in John 3:16 (NLT), "For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life." That promise goes out to everyone who believes in Jesus.
When we believe who Jesus is and what He has done for us, we have the promise and hope of eternal life. Eternal life with our Creator; eternal life with our Savior. That is amazing love that truly is something our human minds cannot fully comprehend. But, it is a faithful love that will always keep its promise. This is the very reason we are transformed and made into a new creation. All this week I have explored the idea that we are changed because of love; therefore, we should be showing God's love to the world. The very love that changed us lives in us and it should be seen in all that we do. God didn't give this love out for us to keep to ourselves - He did this so that no one would have to perish.
How are you sharing God's love?
